Mid Yorkshire Chamber announces £30m export figures

The latest export figures from the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce have revealed that the region exported over £30m worth of goods during the last quarter of 2018.

Huddersfield’s exports made up just under half of the region’s total amount, generating £13,044,183 for the district, closely followed by Wakefield with £9,779,552 and Halifax with £7,360,211.

Across the three districts, 2019 has already brought a sharp increase in the value of goods exported. January saw Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield export a combined £6.8m worth of products, a 55 per cent increase on the £4.4m generated in December.

The figures also revealed that companies in the Mid-Yorkshire region predominantly export to countries outside the EU.

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, China, India and the UAE make up the top five export markets for Mid Yorkshire’s companies, with machinery, textiles and chemicals being the main products exported.
