Yorkshire success in International Track 200

Sixteen Yorkshire-headquartered companies feature in this year’s Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table which ranks the UK's mid-market private companies based on the fastest-growing international sales.

Over the last two years, the 16 businesses have grown their international sales by an average of 75 per cent a year, totalling £550m, and they employ more than 10,400 people in total.

At number six in the table, the top-ranking company in the region is the York-based Saville Group.

Founded in 1876 as a photo developing company by chemist John Saville, it has since evolved into an audio-visual specialist, producing live events and suppling conferencing technology for international corporate clients. The company grew its overseas sales by 166 per cent pa to £4m, on total sales of £42.1m in 2017.

One of the newcomers is Keighley-based Brook Taverner which was established in 1912 when Frank Brook and Walter Taverner began selling buttons to tailors. Today, the company supplies formal corporate clothing for leading names such as Audi and Sofitel, achieving £5m in exports on total sales of £30.6m in 2017.

Malton-based Karro Food Group also joins the league table for the first time. The company sells antibiotic-free meat to the US and trotters to China, with exports totalling £160.9m on total sales of £638.9m in 2017.

The other Yorkshire companies to feature are John Good, High Street TV, Techbuyer, Pricecheck, Cooper & Turner, Evolution Power Tools, Sigma Retail Solutions, CCL Computers, A-Safe, John Cotton Group, Lanes Group, Specialist People Services and Principle.
